Forty Days, One Million Dollars
Recently Living Hope Church witnessed an incredible wave of generosity.
Facing the deadline for coming up with the $5 million needed to pay off their building, the congregation of 6,000 came up with $1 million in the last 40 days of the campaign and pushed their budget over the top – even ending up with excess funds which they used to minister to the homeless in their community.
Throughout the fundraising campaign the church and its pastor (Dangerous Church author, John Bishop) faced many challenges. The sum seemed impossible, and John faced health problems and trouble at home. However, on the other side of it all, the church says they are now stronger than ever.
In the midst of so many high profile bankruptcies this past year, the story of Living Hope is a breath of fresh air.
